A little bit of HOPE helps those who are trafficked to take the first courageous step!

Be a Bridge of Hope!

I want to talk with you today about building a bridge to hope! A bridge that will take us from our circumstances of today into tomorrow. A bridge that builds one plank at a time, with each plank having a special meaning!

Let me tell you a story about one evening during a night outreach. There is a world hiding in the shadows that we know nothing about. It does not go away because we choose to look the other way or pretend it isn't there.

That evening, the girls were very young and filled with desperation. It was too much to take in on one visit, yet I believe the Lord allowed me to see His vision, His pain for His precious Creation. My heart aches, and I cannot take the injustice of it all!

My first observation of these girls, which caused alarm in my heart, was their body language. Their shameful and protective way of hiding behind crossed arms. There was still a young innocence about them. There was a bruise on one of the girl's arms. Was this bruise telling a story of this girl's pain so far?

“To look into the eyes of a human without hope is indescribable.”

Without hope, some girls can smile with their mouths, but their eyes tell a different story. They are hopeless, sad, and their eyes are broken.

I cannot imagine her journey to the point where she believed there was no escape or hope.

Holding on to a Bridge of Hope is difficult! The gap between what they wish for and what actually is may feel like the Grand Canyon. Building a Bridge of Hope across the tragic gap of fear and uncertainty is not easy. The truth is that well-placed hope is our lifeline, and Paul commended believers in Thessalonica for their “endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thes 1:3).

Enduring hope is the bridge across the tragic gap!

How do we do this?

  1. Build the bridge of hope upon the truth of God’s Word. 1 Corinthians 3:11
  2. We walk alongside the women as they find the strength to take the first step into the unknown and what appears to be impossible to them.
  3. Then we stand on the Bridge of hope even in their weaknesses. 2 Corinthians 12:9. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”

And almost everyone can be a Bridge to Hope for someone who may need one person to believe in them, give someone an encouraging word or two, or open a solid door or a door of possibility for someone else.
